Vovô and Vovó

Just as Grandma and Grandpa Lubbers moved their bags to the Dovers', my parents replaced them in our   guest room. They arrived while the boys were at the Dovers' for their first sleepover and while Tiago and I were at the Instacare. Fun times.

I selfishly enjoyed sitting and relaxing with them on my own, but was happy when the boys finally got time to spend with them as well. They gave Vovô his present (Vovó got a raincheck), but really LOVED the surprise he brought for them: cana! In other words, sugar cane. They got to reminisce about being at Tia Neusa's house in Brasil as they chewed on the yummy treat. They also enjoyed watching soccer together now that Ryan has his FoxTV soccer subscription. Dezi also got to have a special adventure going to a Jazz game with Vovô. He got two tickets as part of his Jr Jazz enrollment. At first, we thought Earl would take him since Earl was the one that paid for Dezi to participate, but Earl was nervous about driving or riding TRAX at night with his vision. Thus, my dad stepped in and got to go to his first NBA game ever! They had a great time riding TRAX and going to the game.

Aside from all the activities, I was really grateful to have my mom around. With the kids at the Dovers' and dad with Bosco and Marilda, it sure was nice spending one on one time with my mom. Having her around while being sick was great and seeing her enjoy little Tiago was sweet. Her "relaxing" vacation wasn't as relaxing as it should have been, especially with her recovering from having her thyroid "killed" due to problems with Graves Disease and hyperthyroidism. I wanted to be taking care of her instead of being sick. It was really sad to see her go. We pray that she will continue getting stronger.
