After not really celebrating our anniversary for years and realizing that a new baby will keep us from "getting away" for some time, we decided to go crazy. Mary got us the friends and family rate at the new Cosmopolitan, which was very swank. We started out with dinner at China Poblano's, which sounded strange, but turned out delicious. We tried the dish that was featured on the Food Network and it was fabulous! What wasn't fabulous, but hilarious nonetheless, was the "Mexican Coke" with an insane price tag. Serves Ryan right for not looking at the menu and assuming that his Coke would come in a regular cup with a regular American price, instead of the $6 import price! At least it gave us a good laugh, which was almost worth the price!
After hanging out at our hotel, we got ready and went to meet Brock Ohlson at the Mandalay Bay. He was kind enough to help us get some cheaper tickets with his military discount. He had to run so we didn't have time to hang out, but it was good to see him for a few minutes. Before the show started, we decided to kill some time snacking at the House of Blues. I loved their recycled art decor.
Then it was off to see the Lion King! It was great! The costuming really was amazing. Not sure if it was just because there were noisyish kids right in front of us, but I felt guilty that we chose this show to go to because it would have been the perfect show to take the boys to.
After the show, it was back to the hotel to find some food, which was harder to do than anticapted. We ended up taking our food up to our room and eating breakfast food while watching the Bellagio fountains from our balcony. What a view! The room was great and the view was very Vegas.
