Other random moments with Lily

Aside from the specific, bigger events surrounding Lily, we did several smaller things that were fun. On June 17th, we took her to check out the lake park. Too bad it was more spring than summer weather. I was worried she would experience all the fun summer things around here with the temperature in the 50s and 60s. Brrr! I was amazed at how much fun she had just playing with Dezi. She kept saying she has so much to learn from me about being a wife and mom. It was extremely flattering, but also put the pressure on the really be the best example to her in every way. We really hit it off and had great discussions ranging mainly from family to education to gospel. This was the day that we decided she should stay with us. She was overcome by how kind we were to her and how willing we were to accept her and bring her into our family.

On June 22nd, we took her on a walk around the lake one day. We watched the swallows fly in and out of their nests in the tunnels on the way to the lake. Then we fed the ducks and splashed our feet. Cai got a little wet when he ventured too close to the shore and Lily had to grab him before a full body entrance. On our way home, we picked up Max Bohne. With his little brother on oxygen, he doesn't get out much unless someone takes him for a playdate. The boys loved having him around, especially Dezi. Watching him with Max made me realize how much easier it would have been had we waited to have Cai. Whoever thought of the two year age gap was crazy! Well, maybe I should say that I'm too crazy to handle it and 3 or 4 years would have probably been a better strategy. At least they have plenty of best brothers moments amid the brotherly bickering.

Lastly, on July 1st, we finally took her to a day at the gym. We swam and she went rock climbing for the first time. I was really proud of her for reaching the top and ringing the bell. The only bad part was getting her to come down. She was so scared of letting go of the wall. It took a few minutes before she finally built up the courage to "rappel" down, but she did it! So many new experiences to write home about!
